Paste is removed, the tatoos will be at its' darkest (reddish/

HENNA BLESSINGS

The women of India have been painting their bodies (mostly hands, feet and face since the rest is supposed to be covered up) for over 5,000 years. Traditionally worn in a ritualized manner for ceremonies and important occasions such as weddings, the art takes a different form in Western countries.
 

 "Henna Blessings' Baby Showers can be combined into a day of pampering and relaxation for the expectant mom and her friends as well.  It is a fun reason to gather the women in your life together for support, encouragement, and a little excitement while celebrating the end of your pregnancy. Whichever Guests choose to receive a tatoo, they also have a little reminder of the day together as the designs last usually 10 days or so (depending on your skin type, chemicals in soaps, etc.). 
 Having henna applied & having someone touch your  belly can be very calming. The henna paste is cooling and can help relieve heat exhaustion and sooth hot skin as well as being a natural sun block.   Henna brings a peaceful repose to the anticipation of the last trimester and helps Mom appreciate the transformation of their shape ... it brings awareness to the miracle happening inside.   The application process of mehndi  art on a pregnant tummy is a time where  mom needs to be still and relaxed. She has to find time in her schedule to sit down for a few hours and focus on her belly, on her pregnancy, and her new life. This is a wonderful opportunity to visit with a few close friends before the birth.  And many believe that is brings good energy to the birth!

What is Mehndi?

A timeless, ancient art of Henna tatooing and a 5,000 year old tradition (at least).   Applications of Henna Tatoos can be applied by appointment.  We use only Jamila superior Quality Henna making our own paste with lemon juice ... all natural!  Black Henna is not used/recommended. 

 Fees:
 10 minute application = $10
20 minute application = $20
and so on ($1/minute)


 There is no additional 'per design' charge.  Henna paste should have  4 hours (minimum) for proper drying time.  The longer you can leave your Henna on ... the darker it will be.   Tatoos can be covered with paper tape to help prevent smudging during drying time, however you must be careful not to bump the application.  At its' darkest hue, it will be a copper colour.  These tatoos typically last between 7-10 days after their peak (2nd day after application), depending on your skin type, how many chemical soaps/lotions you use (not recommended).   The less you exfoliate the area, the longer it may last.

HENNA PARTIES:  Gather a few of your friends and have Mehndi applied in a group setting!  Same fee applies.  It's a great idea for baby showers, bridal showers, Carnivals, Festivals, etc.   We will arrive at your function with everything required to supply your Guests with that 'cool extra'!  We have our our Spoonstudio Tent as well if you are planning an outdoor event.



HENNA BLESSINGS PACKAGE:



  If you are fortunate  to soon be delivering a child, an application of Mehndi delicately designed around the navel is a beautiful decoration for that pre-delivery photo opportunity.  The special attention brought  to your 'incubator' invites a sense of peace to the entire experience and our Yoga training brings an added 'body awareness' to your Session.  You will receive a warm foot bath during the application that can include an aromathy oil if you wish at no extra charge.  You will be vocally led through a relaxation process as you rest back ... eyes closed and feel the cool Henna paste being delicately applied to your belly.   The entire Relaxation Process is not only a bonus to you during this joyous time as you approach the new birth, but also you will be taught  some Relaxation Breathing  techniques that may be very helpful in the delivery room.  It is a remarkable, positive  experience and one you are not likely to forget when reminiscing about the weeks before your delivery. We will also  instruct you in a few helpful Yoga poses that can prepare your body & mind  for the delivery of your baby, as well as some gentle stretches to relieve tired legs, sore back, stress.   All in celebration of  the miracle occuring inside of you. 
$60/1.5 hr (tax in) includes all of the above.  Gift certificates are available.

Henna should be avoided or used sparingly if you are extremely anemic or the baby has G6PD deficiency.
