Sat. Mar. 10
10:15-4:15pm
    AYURVEDA DAY

A one day workshop to introduce students of Yoga to Ayurveda,

the profound ancient Indian science of natural health.

Financial Investment:  $80. (whole day, includes Lunch, no tax)

An Introduction to Ayurveda and the basics of the three Doshas that make up each individual’s constitution, including physical, mental, emotional and spiritual tendencies).  Understanding your doshic type can help you make lifestyle and diet choices to improve your overall well-being. The influence of the three Gunas (mind tendencies) will also be discussed.

Throughout the workshop, you will be guided in recognizing the different doshas and the influence of the gunas in practice.  In ancient India, specific yoga exercises were prescribed for each individual.  One should exercise with the proper rhythm and intensity that suit one’s particular constitution.  To push yourself (or not push!) can pacify or aggravate your in-born tendencies.  Furthermore, our needs vary with our daily experiences, the weather, etc.  Yvonne will explain how to best relax, energize, refocus and soothe the doshas using exercise and breathing.

Vegetarian Lunch (1 hr 45 min)

During group preparation of the lunch, Yvonne will explain some cooking methods, the benefits of the dishes, from an ayurvedic point of view, and give guidelines for good eating and digestion.
The lunch period will include time to rest and/or take a walk (i.e. 1/2 hour free time)

  Living in Natural Rhythm/Daily Self-Care

The effects of the doshic cycles of the day, as well as the benefits of a daily routine and the personal ablutions recommended by Ayurveda will be described.  Yvonne will demonstrate how to do Abhyanga (oil massage) for yourself and we will practice this.

Some recommended books, tongue cleaners and massage
oils will be available for sale.

Teacher: Yvonne Macor  Sri Sri Ayurveda / Art of Living Foundation

Yvonne is a student of Yoga and the Art of Living since 1984, is certified in Purna Yoga, Sri Sri Yoga, and in Sri Sri Ayurveda (as Technician and Cookery Teacher) and has 8 years practical experience in Ayurveda, much of it resident at the Art of Living Ashram in Quebec. Chanting Workshop
with Gail Fulop
Sat. Mar. 31, 9-11am
$20

"Creating a sound vibration from within the body makes your energy field whole.  Your vocal chords vibrate to create a soundwave; your lungs and diaphragm provide a current of air on which the sound can travel.  Because the sound emanates from within, your body is defined and unified by the sound.  Sacred syllables, seed syllables and mantras add potency.  By creating a sound from within, you unify your mind and body using your own personal fingerprint: your voice."  from WAH

In January 2011, Gail attended and participated in an amazing Kirtan hosted by Gurudev Amrit Desai (Founder of Kripalu Yoga) at his Amrit Institute in Salt Springs, Florida.  The Guest Kirtankar (leader of the Kirtan) was world-renowned 'WAH' (www.wahmusic.com).  Following her time spent at Gurudev's Institute, Gail spent a few days with WAH studying yoga and the beauty of chanting.

At this 2hr workshop, you will be introduced to the basics of that entire experience and it will give you an understanding of how singing from the heart opens the doorway to your soul.  Students often think they cannot attend saying, 'I can't even hold a tune'.  That is irrelevant.  It's the energy that you send out through your voice that matters.
Come exercise your 'udana vayu', the upward moving air that extends from the throat to the top of the head.  It is the udana vayu that makes the difference between the simple act of breathing, and the expressive uplifting act of bursting forth in song!

Satsang with Silver Frith

"Satsanga" can be translated as "in the company of the wise" or " a community of truth", and includes meditation, chanting devotional songs and
mantra. Part of the evening will be chanting mantra for a prayer list that includes all Centres of Light, and anyone in need of healing. If you wish to place someone on the prayer list, and are unable to attend the satsanga, please send their name to silver_frith@hotmail.com

Important Information About all Workshops & Classes:

At the Spoonstudio, we are doing our best to create a warm experience that you will want to return to again and again.  To receive this experience in its' essence, it is important that the flow of classes unfold in a certain manner.  Students arriving late interrupt the energy of the class, lessening the experience for all.   This also delays the schedule which may not be appreciated by those who have to be out on time for other appointments.
In respectful consideration of the group as a whole, please arrive a little early or at least on time.  Thank you!

Workshops must be paid for in advance (at least 24 hrs prior to start time) and full refund will be given if you cancel at least 24 hrs in advance also.  Within 24hrs prior to Workshop, your fee will be retained as your spot could have been given to someone else on our waiting list.  Please understand this.  If we cancel ... you receive a full refund regardless.

"SALVING THE SOUL" with Acacia
Fri., Nov. 4 from 7-9pm
At The Spoonstudio ($15)

Here we celebrate Divine music from various backgrounds.
'Kirtan' is a Sanskrit (ancient Indian) word meaning 'to repeat'.  Traditionally, it is 'call and response' chanting which began as part of India's devotional traditions.  Our first 'Kirtan' at ALL YOGA was wonderful.  We decided to change the description of our Musical Worship from 'Kirtan' however since we host more of a multi-faith experience designed to 'salve all souls'.  We realize there is beauty in
all religions of the World ... and we attempt (being no experts) to celebrate that to the best of our ability.
Please join us for a few hours of laid back, praising music.  Attendees can sing along, join in the 'call and response' songs, dance, or simply sit back and enjoy the ride.  Our hope is that you leave the night feeling light and at peace ... maybe even a little enlightened ...

Testimonial: "Thanks so much for the delightful evening on Friday last. You have a beautiful voice and you use it for such lovely and worthwhile things. I am among those who think it would be just delightful to have you on MP3/CD doing chants and other liturgical musics - very enjoyable (not to mention beneficial."

Tues., Oct. 18th ... 7pm
MOVIE NIGHT

Our gathering to view 'Yoga Woman' (narrated by Academy Award Nominee Annette Bening) was wonderful.  The suggested Donation of $2 with all proceeds being matched dollar for dollar by the Spoonstudio collected $60 total for The Salvation Army Christmas Kettles.  We'll be watching this movie again in the New Year so keep watching this page for updates!!

Amrit Desai (Gurudev)
 the Founder of Kripalu Yoga

In January 2011, Gail spent some time in Florida with Yogi Amrit Desai and Kirtankar WAH, an unforgettable experience.  "I am filled with gratitude and will not forget my time with Gurudev", Gail

Gurudev (Amrit Desai) chanting, playing the harmonium, sharing his energy with us at the Amrit Institute, February 2011 ... Jai Bhagwan!

(below information from www.amrityoga.org)

Yoga in the West

Gurudev Yogi Amrit Desai
is recognized as one of the pioneers of the authentic teachings of yoga in the West. He has been repeatedly honored for following in
the footsteps of many of the great spiritual Masters such as Paramahansa Yogananada and Swami Vivekenand in spreading the profound depth of the ancient teachings of India to the world. In 1893, when Swami Vivekanand addressed a gathering of 7,000 people at the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago, his presence marked the beginning of Western interest in the ancient spiritual teachings of India.

In 1986 in New Delhi, Gurudev was awarded the title of World Teacher (Jagadacharya) by this prestigious organization established by Swami Vivekenand. Swami Paramahansa Yogananda, author of “The Autobiography of a Yogi”,  brought the inner depth of spiritual teachings of the east and touched the hearts of millions of people in America from 1946-1952. Similarly, Gurudev is recognized as a spiritual ambassador of the ancient wisdom of India to the West and for his unique contribution to the integrated practice of Hatha and Raja yoga into one holistic experience of the classical eight limbed (Ashtanga) yoga which is missing from the popular practice of yoga today.

Gurudev arrived in America in February of 1960. In 1966, he founded the Yoga Society of Pennsylvania where more than 2500 students were taking yoga classes every week.  This grew into residential yoga centers at Sumneytown and Summit Station, offering in-depth teachings through a yogic lifestyle. In 1983, the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health expanded to Lenox, MA and grew to be the largest holistic health center in North America. Gurudev has been repeatedly recognized both in the U.S. and abroad with rare titles such as Doctor of Yoga and the Vishwa Yoga Ratna awarded by the President of India. Today his approach is practiced by thousands around the world, with more than 5000 certified teachers in 40 countries.

"Meditation, discussion, and chanting with Gurudev was an unforgettable experience and for me, the chance of a lifetime.  I will be forever grateful to the Staff and Volunteers at the Amrit Center for their warm hospitality.
Jai Bhagwan."  Gail

) in St. Augustines, Florida was a great experience.  WAH is multi-gifted ... her soft, warm voice becomes mesmerizing as she leads chanting, her Yoga classes bring about renewed energy from places untouched, her philosophies and experiences that she shared were a welcome bonus to the retreat.  Thank you WAH ... and thank you to Discovery Yoga for hosting this event in your cozy, inviting location!"   Om, Shanti, Shanti, Shanti ...
